Why Are We Fascinated By The Unknown?

Why are we all fascinated by the unknown. I believe curiosity is one of humans' many, many traits. We love to learn new things and because of this special trait we all have, we've gained a lot of knowledge. However, curiosity may not always be that beneficial, because the saying: "Curiosity killed the cat" may be sometimes quite true. We have always been fascinated by the unknown. Ever since we were infants, we've been like that, actually. With curiosity, our ancestors have learned about fire, science, and a lot of different things. I think being fascinated may be a good thing, but it can also have very bad effects. For example, as the horror movies always like to prove to us, curiosity can be really bad for you sometimes. You know how the girls in the movies always gets intrigued by the weird sounds or knocking coming from outside, then they'd open the door and see something really, really scary, then get their throats slit or something as horrendous as that. Curiosity is why we've always been fascinated by the unknown and it is a must have trait for us as long as we don't be too curious and take ourselves to places we wouldn't want to end up in.
